Two COVID-19 patients die, 189 new cases traced, 59 patients in hospital, Health Ministry says on Monday

Two COVID-19 patients have died, while 189 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed, the Health Ministry announced on Monday. The positivity rate stands at 0.31%.

The total number of confirmed cases is 123,546. The number of COVID-19 patients who have died is now 570. Fifty-nine COVID-19 patients are treated in hospital, 20 of them in a critical condition. A percentage of 55.94% of those who are hospitalised have not been vaccinated.

Three post-COVID patients who have ceased to be contagious continue to be treated due to COVID in Intensive treatment Units in a critical condition and are intubated.

A total of 60,998 tests were conducted using the PCR method (5,537) and antigen rapid tests (55,461).

New country categorisation announced by authorities, in effect on Thursday

The Health Ministry in Cyprus announced on Monday a new categorisation of countries based on their epidemiological data, to come into effect Thursday, 28th October with six countries changing category.

Lichtenstein moves from Green to Orange Category while South Korea moves up to Orange from Red.

Iceland, Poland and the Netherlands have dropped to the Red category from Orange.

Greece-UK sign strategic bilateral framework of cooperation

Foreign Minister of Greece Nikos Dendias and the UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss have signed a Strategic Bilateral Framework during a meeting at the Foreign Office. Dendias and Truss discussed various issues, including the Cyprus issue, the Balkans and issues relating to the Law of the Sea, he said in statements after the meeting.

The new framework aims to boost trade, security and digital cooperation between the two countries.

House President and Armenian counterpart express mutual support for Cyprus and Nagorno-Karabakh issues

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan and President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou expressed their mutual support to the Cyprus issue and the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh in their statements after their meeting on Monday.

Simonyan, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus, expressed his satisfaction with the two countries` cooperation in international fora and said that they attached special importance to the cooperation of the two parliaments in the international interparliamentary framework.

He noted that during the meeting they placed special emphasis on the immediate start of the tripartite framework of parliamentary cooperation between Greece, Armenia and Cyprus.

Anastasiades and Zervas underline fraternal links between Cyprus and Thessaloniki

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, and Thessaloniki Mayor, Konstantinos Zervas, referred to the fraternal links between Cyprus and Thessaloniki and Macedonia in general, during a meeting they had on Monday.

Zervas welcomed Anastasiades at Thessaloniki Town Hall. Anastasiades was accompanied by his spouse and the members of the Cypriot delegation, while the municipality`s band paid honour.

Our aim is to bring state services to a computer or a mobile screen, Deputy Minister says

The Deputy Ministry for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy aims to bring the state and state services to a mobile phone screen or a computer monitor, Deputy Minister Kyriacos Kokkinos has said.

President Anastasiades reiterates political will for a peaceful and viable Cyprus solution

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades reiterated his political will for a peaceful, honest, functional, and viable solution of the Cyprus problem, in a speech at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, clarifying, however, that a solution contrary to the High Level Agreements, UN Resolutions, and the European acquis is unacceptable.
