Cyprus Transport Minister outlines policy to boost electric vehicles registration to 36,000 by 2030

Yiannis Karousos, Minister of Transport, Communication and Works presented a general policy framework aiming at boosting electric vehicle (EV) registration to 25% of new registration by 2030, in a bid to reduce Cyprus’ carbon footprint.

The general policy for the promotion of the EVs includes strategic targets, the necessary actions to establish the legal framework, measures to be implemented in pursuing these targets as well as competencies and actions for each competent Ministry.

According to an official press release, the policy framework implementation for the promotion of EVs will contribute to reduce emissions which is a target of the EU in the context of the Green Deal.

House President informs Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy about Turkish provocations in Varosha

House President meets with Vice President of the General Court of the EU

House President Annita Demetriou met Friday with the Vice President of the General Court of the European Union Savvas Papasavvas with whom she discussed ways to better enhance the communication channels between the Parliament and other institutions in Cyprus with institutions in the EU.

They also discussed the developments following the new provocations by Turkey in the fenced off town of Varosha noting that it is for the benefit of the EU to have a just and viable solution that will offer stability and security.

Papasavvas noted that Cyprus as a small country needs to establish channels of communication with all European institutions because this will enhance its presence in Europe.
