Cyprus FM travels to Luxembourg for EU Council, EU-Turkey relations on the agenda

Cyprus Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Christodoulides, departs on Sunday for Luxembourg ahead of an EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, during which EU – Turkey relations will be among the matters to be discussed.

“In the course of the Council`s deliberations, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States will discuss, under the Current Affairs item on the agenda, the EU`s relations with Turkey, Lebanon and Indonesia, following also the recent visits to the three countries by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell,” a Foreign Affairs Ministry press release says.

They are also expected to exchange views on the latest developments in EU – Russia relations, the Middle East peace process, the situation in Ethiopia and Mali, as well as the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, it adds.

Cyprus clinches seven victories on first day of ECT Games in Limassol

Cyprus has clinched seven victories in the first day of the European Championships Third League games which are held this weekend, in Limassol.

The victories of the Cyprus group of athletes are helping towards the main goal which is the return to the Second League. The athletes were significantly helped by the presence of fans in Tsirion stadium.

Cyprus promoted to Davis Cup Group II playoffs

Cyprus sealed its promotion to World Group II Play Offs in Larnaca, Cyprus, after its victories on Friday.

According to the Davis Cup website, Monaco finished at top of Group III this year on Saturday after taking the third and final promotion spot from Europe Group III with a 2-1 win over Cyprus.

Ireland also sealed its promotion to Davis Cup Group II after defeating Georgia 2-1 in the play-offs yesterday.

Ministry of Health advises individuals under 40 to get vaccinated

The Ministry of Health said the vaccination rate of ages over 40 is very satisfactory, however it voiced great concern for the low numbers of vaccinations for the under 40.

In a press release, it said that until June 18, 70% of people aged 40-49 have been vaccinated with at least the first dose, and a total of 69% for the age group of 50-59 years, 79.6% for ages 60-69 years, 90 , 1% for the age group of 70-79 years, while those 80 and over, the vaccination coverage has reached 90.
