Data show 77% of patients in hospitals are unvaccinated

Health Ministry said on Friday that 77% of the patients in hospitals are not vaccinated.

 

A press release says that based on data, 3% of the patients are fully vaccinated (2 doses or 1 of JJ) while 10% are also fully vaccinated but 5 months and 2 weeks have elapsed since they were administered the 2nd dose or the 1st dose for JJ vaccine.

 

It is added that 1% of the patients are not fully vaccinated and 1% were administered the booster shot and were infected in less than 14 days after they were administered the 3rd dose.

Apartments keep pushing up residence prices in Cyprus, accoridng to CBC data for Q3 2021

Residential property prices in Cyprus continued to rise in the third quarter of 2021, primarily driven by apartment purchases, according to Residential Property Price Index released Friday by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

 

The Index recorded a quarterly increase of 0.5% compared to 0.3% in the second quarter of 2021, while on an annual basis the index recorded an increase of 1.2% compared to 0.3% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

 

House prices in the third quarter decreased in many areas both on a quarterly and annual basis, contrary to the increase in apartment prices.

 

Specifically, house prices decreased on an annual basis by 0.3%, while on a quarterly basis the prices recorded a small increase of 0.3% mainly due to increases in Larnaca and Paphos districts. On the contrary, apartment prices increased by 1% on a quarterl

It is premature to talk about the end of the pandemic, Scientific Advisory Committee expert tellls CNA

It is premature to talk about the end of the pandemic in spring, Petros Karayiannis, a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Virology at the University of Nicosia Medical School, told CNA.

 

Asked if we are heading towards the end of the pandemic, Professor Karayiannis said that many believe that due to the mildness of the Omicron variant we may be entering the endemic phase of coronavirus. “I think it is too early to say that with certainty, because we have forgotten a thing or two about the coronavirus” he said.

Pfizer vaccines for children inoculations distributed to Turkish Cypriot community

Pfizer vaccines for children’s inoculations were distributed to the Turkish Cypriot community, via the bicommunal technical committee on health.

 

Greek Cypriot Head of the Committee Leonidas Fylaktou told the Cyprus News Agency that the vaccines were distributed last Wednesday. A total of 2,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines were given for vaccinations of children of ages 5-11.

 

He said that the quantity was given following a consultation with the Health Minister, adding that if there is a need for additional doses, these will be distributed.

 

According to press statements in the occupied areas, the inoculations will start Monday and priority will be given to children 10-11 with chronic diseases.

‘Test to stay’ programme at schools in effect Monday

“Test to stay” programme will be put into effect at schools on Monday, January 24th, the Ministry of Health says.

 

This measure applies to elementary and high schools with the aim for schools to remain open in a safe environment.

 

As the protocol says, students who are close contacts of a confirmed case within the school will be tested. This measure does not apply to all those who are in self isolation as close contacts.

 

The Ministry says that close contacts who are unvaccinated or were administered the 1st dose or have concluded their vaccination scheme and 7 months have elapsed or were infected and 90 days passed can either self isolate for 10 days and exit the isolation on the 7th day with a negative PCR test or can come to school and get tested with a rapid test everyday for 6 consecutive days since the day they came into contact with a case

EU member states at external borders facing migratory pressure ask at Vilnius Conference for support (Repeat)

Member States that are at the external borders (including the case of Cyprus and the Green Line), as well as Member States under migratory pressure, should be supported and assisted adequately, 16 EU member states taking part in the Vilnius Conference on Border Management agreed. The conference, concluded on Friday, was co-organized by Greece, Austria, Poland and Lithuania and was attended by Ministers responsible for Migration from the 27 member states, along with the European Commission and relevant European agencies. Cyprus was represented by Interior Minister Nicos Nouris, who addressed a joint press conference along with his counterparts from Lithuania, Greece, Austria and Poland.

Cyprus announces 3 deaths due to COVID-19 and 2,192 new infections on Friday

Cyprus’ health authorities announced on Friday 3 deaths due to COVID-19 and 2,192 new cases, bringing the tally of fatalities and infections to 703 and 232,161 respectively.

 

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, 242 people are hospitalised, while 84 patients are treated in serious conditions in Intensive Care Units and Advanced Care Units.

 

A total of 106,444 tests were carried out today, with a daily positivity rate of 2.

European lottery group Allwyn to list on NYSE with blank check firm Cohn Robbins
