Nicosia: The creation of modern school infrastructure, the upgrading of learning and sports facilities, and the renovation of historic buildings while respecting their architectural and historical identity constitute yet another tangible demonstration that the state is making a meaningful investment in education, President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, said on Friday evening during his address marking the 100th anniversary of the Saint Anthony Primary School in Nicosia.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides emphasized that for the Government, expenditure on Education, Health, and the Welfare State is viewed as an investment in the country's future rather than a cost or a mere accounting exercise. It is within this framework that the government is making substantial investments in initiatives of significant educational value, aligning with a policy approach that places people at the center.
He further expressed satisfaction with the fulfillment of government commitments, notably the upgrading of primary education schools. Recently, the Cabinet decided to establish an additional 60 Optional All-Day Schools, increasing the total number across Cyprus to 378 from September onward.
'With the expansion of the all-day school program, our children are given the opportunity to engage in meaningful and creative activities until the afternoon, which supports their families among other benefits. Beyond the numerical increase in all-day schools, the quality of the programs offered is of utmost importance to us,' President Christodoulides highlighted.
