Cyprus-Greece Trade Reaches £3.3 Billion in 2025, Damianos Reveals Ahead of Meeting with Greek Minister Theoharis

Nicosia: Trade in goods between Cyprus and Greece has reached £3.3 billion in 2025, with Greece remaining a significant trading partner for Cyprus, announced Michalis Damianos, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry. Damianos shared this information with Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Saturday, ahead of his scheduled meeting on Monday in Nicosia with Greece's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Theoharis, who is responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Damianos emphasized that the upcoming meeting with the Greek Deputy Minister will focus primarily on trade issues. This is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the already robust economic and trade relations between Cyprus and Greece. Damianos expressed confidence that the meeting would be constructive and beneficial for both nations.

He elaborated that the agenda would center on the international trade portfolio managed by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. Damianos highlighted the significance of Greece as a critical partner for Cyprus in both import and export sectors. He reiterated that, in 2025, the total trade in goods between Cyprus and Greece reached £3.3 billion, underscoring Greece's importance beyond other aspects of their bilateral relationship.

Damianos clarified that the meeting would not address foreign policy issues, maintaining a strict focus on trade matters. In response to queries about energy issues concerning Cyprus-Israel relations, following the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Cyprus, Damianos mentioned a brief discussion with Herzog at the airport. They touched upon topics such as the Aphrodite-Ishai gas fields dispute and the electricity interconnection, although these were not the primary focus of the upcoming meeting.
