Paphos: The Greek Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA) has decided that the four Greek F16 fighter jets currently stationed in Paphos, Cyprus, since the onset of the military crisis in the Persian Gulf, will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
According to Cyprus News Agency, sources from the Greek Ministry of Defence have indicated that these aircraft will eventually be replaced by other fighter jets in a subsequent phase of deployment. The decision reflects a strategic approach by Greek authorities in response to ongoing regional tensions.
Simultaneously, officials have resolved to withdraw the Patriot missiles that had been positioned in Karpathos during the same period. These missiles will be succeeded by a pair of Mirage 20005 fighter aircraft, marking a shift in Greece's defensive capabilities and resource allocation in the area. The move is part of a broader strategy to adapt to the evolving security environment in the region.
