Limassol: A total of 70 incidents, 16 of which required transportation to Limassol General Hospital for further treatment, were managed by the Ambulance Service, as stated by Riana Constantinou, Head of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY), to CNA on Friday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, from the moment the crisis plan was activated, the Ambulance Service undertook operational planning to address the situation. In collaboration with the Minister of Health and OKYPY management, a field plan was developed. A medical centre was established at Erimi village stadium to provide immediate medical assistance to the affected population without overburdening hospitals.
Nine ambulances were dispatched to the area impacted by fires, operating around the clock with a substantial number of personnel on site. This coordination, in collaboration with the Fire Service Centre at Kouri Town Hall, enabled the management of all incidents related to the fires. Constantinou reported that all 70 incidents were handled effectively, with 16 individuals needing hospital treatment.
Some incidents were serious, while others were less critical, yet all received appropriate attention. Additionally, in cooperation with Civil Defence, the Ambulance Service, along with volunteer rescue teams, assisted in safely relocating bedridden individuals without medical issues from their homes to other safe areas.
