Nicosia: The Turkish Cypriot Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Human Rights Platform, is organizing the AI, Manipulation and Media Literacy Summit, with contributions from the Union of Cyprus Journalists and Fact-Check Cyprus of Cyprus University of Technology. The summit, funded by the European Union, will take place on April 25, 2026, at the Ledra Palace Hotel.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the event will gather academics and journalists from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, as well as participants from Turkey, Greece, and the wider European region. This summit aims to foster dialogue, encourage knowledge exchange, and enhance cooperation at both local and international levels. It will focus on the multifaceted impact of artificial intelligence and algorithms on media, aiming to raise awareness about manipulation and disinformation techniques while strengthening media literacy skills.
The summit will serve as a one-day stakeholder meeting, bringing together journalists, academics, fact-checkers, civil society representatives, and other relevant stakeholders. They will collectively address shared challenges and explore potential solutions in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. To facilitate participation, simultaneous interpretation will be available in Turkish, English, and Greek throughout the event.
Attendance at the summit requires prior registration, ensuring that all participants are prepared to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborations.
