University of Cyprus Opens Iconic Buildings for Open House Nicosia 2026

Nicosia: The University of Cyprus is set to participate in the inaugural Open House Nicosia 2026 by opening two of its iconic buildings, the Faculty of Engineering and the Learning Resource Centre - Library 'Stelios Ioannou', to the public on 18-19 April 2026.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Open House Nicosia is part of the Open House Worldwide network, a global initiative aimed at promoting architecture and the built environment. Since its inception in London in 1992, the initiative has expanded to over 60 cities worldwide, fostering connections between people and the spaces they inhabit.

The University of Cyprus's Faculty of Engineering is a contemporary architectural complex designed to integrate functionality, sustainability, and innovation. It supports advanced education and research while encouraging collaboration and creativity within the academic community.

The Learning Resource Centre - Library 'Stelios Ioannou' is recognized for its distinctive design and bioclimatic approach, serving as a hub for learning, research, and culture for both the university and the public.

During Open House Nicosia 2026, visitors will have access to selected public and private buildings across the city through guided architectural tours. The event includes thematic architectural walks and activities highlighting Nicosia's urban landscape.

The participation of the University of Cyprus in the event aims to strengthen the connection between academia and society, showcasing the architectural quality of its facilities and their contribution to the urban experience. For one weekend, Nicosia will transform into an open museum of architecture.

Open House Nicosia 2026 is organized by the NGO Voices of the City - Open House Nicosia, under the auspices of the Nicosia Municipality, with support from the Cyprus Architects Association and the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK).
