Larnaka: The University of Nicosia Medical School has successfully concluded a healthcare campaign aimed at providing preventive health checks for residents of Greek Cypriot refugee settlements in Larnaka. The initiative, carried out between October and November, was a collaborative effort with the Municipality of Larnaka, the Pancyprian Refugee Association, and the Ministry of Health’s Dental Services.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the campaign involved four visits by Mobile Clinics to settlements in Tsiakkilero, Agioi Anargyroi, Kamares, and Oroklini, ensuring that residents had access to essential preventive healthcare services. The effort saw participation from 78 medical students who conducted health screenings for approximately 200 residents.
The screenings provided included blood pressure, glucose, spirometry, and body mass index measurements, along with electrocardiograms. These activities allowed the students to gain practical experience in public health, under the guidance of clinical faculty, by examining patients in a community environment.
