Cyprus has been divided since 1974 due to Turkey's invasion and occupation of its northern part. Despite numerous UN-led peace talks, a resolution has not been achieved. The last negotiation attempt in July 2017 at Crans-Montana, Switzerland, ended without a conclusion.
On Monday morning, Turkish Cypriot tractors entered the Avlona buffer zone to cultivate land owned by a Greek Cypriot. This land falls under the United Nations' area of responsibility.
