Cyprus Sea Area Weather Forecast Highlights Varied Wind Patterns

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering a period from midday on January 6, 2026, to midday on January 7, 2026. The forecast, which applies to an 8-kilometer seawards area, anticipates varied wind patterns across the region.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1022hPa. The forecast predicts increased medium and high cloud presence at various times, though visibility is expected to remain good. The sea surface temperature is anticipated to be 19°C, with no warnings issued for the period.

The west coast is expected to experience northeast to southeast winds at Beaufort scale 4 in the afternoon, transitioning to 3 to 4 later at night and in the morning, with the state of the sea ranging from slight to smooth.

On the south coast, winds will vary from northeast to east at 3 to 4 locally reaching 4 in the afternoon, and shift to northwest to northeast at 3 overnight. The morning will see north to northeast winds at 3 to 4, with the sea state described as smooth to slight throughout.

For the east coast, afternoon winds are forecasted to be from northeast to east at 3 to 4, with the sea condition ranging from slight to slight to moderate. Overnight, winds will be north to northeast at 3 to 4, later becoming smooth to slight, and maintain northeast directions at 3 to 4 in the morning.

The north coast will see northeast to east winds at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 in the afternoon, leading to slight sea conditions. The night will bring northeast to east winds at 3 to 4, later becoming variable at 3 with the sea state ranging from slight to smooth.
