Nicosia: Total petroleum product sales rose by 11.2% year-on-year in January 2026, reaching 118,460 tonnes, according to the latest data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. At the same time, total stocks at the end of the month recorded a significant decrease of 33% compared with the end of December 2025.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the increase compared with January 2025 was mainly driven by a sharp rise in marine fuel supplies, which surged by 175.3%, as well as an increase in aviation fuel supplies (23.2%). Higher sales were also recorded for heating oil (25.2%), liquefied petroleum gas (13.4%), and asphalt (13.2%).
Significant declines were observed in light fuel oil (-62.3%) and heavy fuel oil (-12.1%), while a marginal decrease was recorded in road diesel (-1.6%). Petrol sales remained broadly stable, posting a slight increase of 0.3%.
Sales from petroleum filling stations increased by 3.5%, reaching 58,500 tonnes.
On a monthly basis, however, total petroleum product sales fell by 3.9% in January 2026 compared with December 2025. Aviation fuel supplies declined by 10.0%, while petrol and road diesel sales dropped by 13.1% and 11.9%, respectively. In contrast, marine fuel supplies rose by 15.6% month-on-month.
