Nominations Open for Prestigious 2025 Cyprus Research Awards

Nicosia: Nominations for the 2025 Cyprus Research Awards have officially opened, marking the 18th year of celebrating outstanding research contributions in Cyprus. The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) continues its tradition of honoring young and distinguished scientists, encouraging excellence and promoting innovative research activities across the nation.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the awards are categorized into three distinct areas: ‘Distinguished Researcher,’ ‘Young Researcher,’ and ‘Commercial Exploitation of Research Results.’ Each category aims to recognize significant contributions in various research fields. Candidates must be nominated by others and will undergo an evaluation process based on their research work, achievements, and impact.

The deadline for nominations is set for September 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Interested parties can access detailed terms and conditions on the IRIS portal. Notably, there are no restrictions on the number of candidates an individual or organization can nominate.

The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Distinguished Researcher 2025’ will honor scientists with over seven years of experience post-doctorate, who have achieved significant international recognition. This year’s focus is on Social Sciences and Humanities, with winners receiving a grant of £60,000 to further their research.

The ‘Cyprus Research Award – Young Researcher 2025’ targets scientists with less than seven years of post-doctoral experience. It covers Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Winners will receive a £60,000 grant to support a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher.

Lastly, the ‘Cyprus Award for Commercial Exploitation of Research Results 2025’ recognizes those who have successfully commercialized their research in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, or Social Sciences and Humanities. The awarded grant of £60,000 will support further research and development activities aimed at enhancing commercial readiness.
