Limassol: Limassol, a city on the southern coast of Cyprus, is a highly competitive tourist destination in the Mediterranean, is on a very good path and we must all move forward together to improve it even further, Tourism Deputy Minister, Kostas Koumis, said on Monday. Koumis chaired a meeting with representatives of the Limassol Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company, the four mayors of the greater Limassol area as well as other stakeholders in the tourism industry.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Koumis stated in press statements that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism recognizes the particularly important role that local authorities have to play in upgrading Cyprus' tourism services. Koumis went on to say that they need to have an open discussion with the aim to upgrade the individual destinations.

Koumis highlighted that Limassol district records a visitor rate of 12.4%. He added that Limassol is a destination for which we receive extremely good comments and what is important is that we all move forward together in order to improve it even further. Some of the issues raised during the meeting have to do with the need to upgrade public spaces, such as the Tsireio stadium and the coastal front.

The Deputy Minister also noted that most of the city's hotels are of a very high standard and that Limassol is aimed at people with a higher income level. President of the Limassol Tourism Development Agency and President of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andreas Tsouloftas, said that they have a vision and strategy for the tourism product of Limassol and called on the Deputy Ministry to assist in its implementation.
