Nicosia: Female poultry intended for egg production saw a 17.8% increase in 2025 compared with 2024, as reported by the Statistical Service on Tuesday. Specifically, the number of poultry for laying reached 657,870, up from 558,540 in 2024.
According to Cyprus News Agency, poultry for fattening also experienced growth, with a 4.4% rise from 14,222,300 in 2024 to 14,850,360 in 2025. Additionally, there was a 3.2% increase in hatching poultry eggs placed in incubation for both laying and meat production. Eggs intended for laying reached 907,030, compared with 879,140, while those intended for meat production rose to 18,588,900 from 18,006,820 in 2024.
In December 2025, poultry for egg production totaled 22,310, marking a significant 59% decrease from December 2024, and a 76% decline compared with the previous month. Conversely, poultry for fattening in December totaled 1,345,600, which indicates a 6.1% increase from December 2024 and a 13% rise from November 2025.
Additionally, in December, 72,540 eggs were placed in incubation for laying, showing a 21.9% increase compared with the same month in 2024. Eggs placed in incubation for meat production reached 1,565,070, reflecting a 3.2% rise from the previous year.
