Washington: Kimberly Guilfoyle, the nominee for US ambassador to Greece, has made a commitment to focus on protecting Greece, Cyprus, and Israel. During her confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Guilfoyle emphasized the strategic importance of these nations as steadfast allies of the United States in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Guilfoyle highlighted her plans to enhance trilateral cooperation frameworks among the U.S., Greece, and Cyprus, describing them as vital ‘pillars of stability’ in the region. She assured the committee that, if confirmed, she would dedicate herself to strengthening these relationships.
Furthermore, Guilfoyle expressed her intent to support Greece’s efforts in constructing electricity interconnectors with neighboring countries, including Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt. She noted that these projects are crucial for regional energy diversification and security. Additionally, Guilfoyle addressed the issue of Turkey’s potential reintegration into the F-35 fighter jet program, emphasizing that Turkey’s exclusion resulted from its own decisions.
