Kenya the First Stop of FM’s Visits to African Countries This Year

Nairobi: Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos will pay a visit to Kenya, which is the first stop in a series of visits by the Foreign Minister to Africa in 2025, with the aim of further strengthening relations with the countries of the continent. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who travels on Saturday to Kenya, will meet with his Kenyan counterpart Musalia Mudavadi, with whom he will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation and Political Consultations between Cyprus and Kenya.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the signing of the Memorandum is a milestone for the further strengthening of bilateral relations in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, and development cooperation. Furthermore, Kombos will inaugurate the new premises of the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in Nairobi.

He will also visit the “Makarios” orphanage in Nyeri, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has supported the reconstruction of the building’s facilities and technological equipment. Kombos will also inaugurate the “Olive Tree” multi-purpose hall of the “Sophia for Children” Foundation, a project implemented with funding from the Republic of Cyprus.

During the visit, the Cypriot Foreign Minister will meet with the Ambassadors of the Member States of the European Union in Kenya, with whom he will exchange views with the aim of exploring possibilities for coordination on regional and international issues. Kombos will also visit the Orthodox Archdiocese of Nairobi, where he will meet with Archbishop Makarios, in the context of the long-standing relationship between the Republic of Cyprus and the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

After Kenya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will travel to Tanzania on 8 July 2025, representing the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, the press release concludes.
