Nicosia: More than 87% of enterprises in Cyprus are now utilizing high-speed internet connections, as revealed by a survey conducted by the Statistical Service on the usage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and E-Commerce in enterprises during 2025. The survey highlighted that 98.2% of enterprises have a fixed internet connection, with 87.3% of these connections offering speeds higher than 100 Mbit/s, a significant increase from 44.8% in 2021.
According to Cyprus News Agency, in 2025, the most common internet speed contracted by enterprises was between 100 Mbit/s and 500 Mbit/s, accounting for 36.5% of all enterprises. This was followed by speeds of at least 1 Gbit/s (26.2%), at least 500 Mbit/s but less than 1 Gbit/s (24.6%), and at least 30 Mbit/s but less than 100 Mbit/s (8.9%). The survey found that only 2% of enterprises opted for speeds less than 30 Mbit/s.
In terms of e-commerce, almost 24% of enterprises received orders for goods and services via computer networks in 2024, with 23% utilizing websites or ‘apps’ and 1.9% using EDI-type messages. Additionally, 17.1% of enterprises received orders through their own websites or ‘apps’, while 14.1% utilized e-commerce marketplaces. Orders via websites or ‘apps’ from private customers were received by 21.9% of enterprises, compared to 10% from other businesses or public authorities.
The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has also seen significant growth among Cyprus enterprises. In 2025, 9.3% of enterprises employed AI technologies, up from 2.6% in 2021. The Statistical Service noted that 35.1% of large enterprises use AI, compared to 15.3% of medium-sized and 7.7% of small enterprises. AI technologies include systems that leverage text mining, computer vision, speech recognition, and machine learning, among others.
In the realm of business software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is the most utilized, with 41% of enterprises adopting it in 2025. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software follows at 33.1%, and Business Intelligence (BI) software is used by 22.1% of enterprises. The survey highlighted a correlation between enterprise size and software adoption, with larger enterprises more likely to use these tools.
The survey also shed light on data analytics practices, revealing that 33.7% of enterprises perform data analytics using internal or external data, while 16% prefer outsourcing this task. In terms of environmentally friendly practices, 25.4% of enterprises use ICT systems to reduce energy consumption, and 22.3% aim to reduce material usage or enhance the use of recycled materials.
Finally, the disposal of ICT equipment is managed by 68.6% of enterprises through electronic waste recycling, 53.2% keep unused equipment for spare parts, and 32.6% sell, donate, or return it to leasing enterprises.
