Cyprus Experiences Negative Inflation at 0.5% in November

Nicosia: Inflation in November 2025 decreased at a rate of 0.5%, according to the Statistical Service. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 0.68 points, reaching 117.57 units compared to 118.25 units in October 2025.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the largest increase in the economic categories compared with November 2024 was recorded in Services at 3.1%, while the most significant negative changes were observed in Electricity at -7.9% and Agricultural Products at -6.2%. Compared with October 2025, Agricultural Products saw the largest change with a decrease of 7.6%.

In terms of percentage changes, compared to November 2024, the categories of Restaurants and Hotels and Education recorded increases of 5% and 3.3%, respectively. Conversely, Clothing and Footwear saw a drop of 7.6%, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages decreased by 3.1%. Compared to October 2025, Clothing and Footwear recorded a slight increase of 0.9%, while Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages decreased by 3.2%.

For the period from January to November 2025, compared with the same period of the previous year, the most significant increases were observed in Restaurants and Hotels at 4.7%, Education at 3.7%, and Recreation and Culture at 3.2%. The biggest decline was seen in Clothing and Footwear at 6.4%.

Analyzing the effects in units, the categories of Restaurants and Hotels, Education, and Recreation and Culture had the largest positive impacts on the change of the CPI in November 2025 compared to November 2024, with impacts of 0.54, 0.15, and 0.14 units, respectively. The most significant negative impacts were recorded in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Clothing and Footwear, with -0.74 and -0.59 units, respectively.

In November 2025 compared to October 2025, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages had the most substantial impact on the CPI change at -0.77 units. Catering Services contributed the largest positive impact at 0.53 units when compared to the index of November 2024, while Clothing and Electricity recorded negative impacts of -0.47 and -0.45 units, respectively. Among specific items, Potatoes had a positive impact of 0.10 units on the CPI change from October to November 2025, whereas Fresh Vegetables had the largest negative impact at -0.79 units.
