Greece Rejects Lectures on Foreign Policy Amid Tensions with Turkey

Athens: Greece, a European Union and NATO member, has firmly stated its commitment to independently shaping its foreign policy, rebutting comments made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The Greek Foreign Ministry emphasized its dedication to stability, good neighborly relations, and peace, highlighting its status as an elected member of the United Nations Security Council.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Greek Foreign Ministry responded to Fidan's remarks by underscoring Greece's cooperation with Israel and trilateral partnerships with the Republic of Cyprus and Israel. These collaborations, the Ministry noted, are aimed at promoting peace and are not directed against any third parties.

The Ministry reiterated that Greece does not accept external lectures on its foreign policy and owes no explanations, especially amid regional instability and uncertainty. The statement dismissed any scaremongering and attempts to distort reality as unhelpful.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had earlier criticized Greece and Cyprus for their cooperation with Israel, suggesting it might escalate regional tensions, during an interview with Anadolu news agency.
