FM’s Working Visit to the US Aimed to Further Deepen Bilateral Ties

Washington: Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos, who concluded Wednesday a working visit to the US, has held a series of meetings in Washington aimed to further deepen the Cyprus-US relations. He also participated as a keynote speaker in events of the Delphi Forum D.C. and other think tanks and organisations based in Washington.

According to Cyprus News Agency, during his working visit from February 1-4, and in the context of enhanced cooperation with the US Congress, the Minister of Foreign Affairs had meetings with Senators and Members of Parliament of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Energy/Budget Committees. The meetings focused on efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Cyprus and the United States, transatlantic relations, regional and international developments, as well as the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Kombos was keynote speaker at the 7th Delphi Economic Forum DC, held in Washington on February 2-3, 2026, at events, speeches, and roundtable discussions of think tanks and organisations in Washington, such as the American Jewish Committee and the American Enterprise Institute. The Minister was also a keynote speaker at the Arab Gulf States Institute. In his interventions, he presented the priorities and challenges of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, and focused on the need for dialogue and enhanced cooperation between the EU and the US.

He also referred to current regional and international developments and highlighted the role of Cyprus as a pillar of stability and security for the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, as well as a strategic hub for cooperation. Finally, the Minister underlined the importance of the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC), the press release concludes.
