Nicosia: The Cyprus Police have deported and placed on the stop list nine foreign nationals involved in a serious brawl, as announced by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry revealed that after a coordinated data evaluation, the Cyprus Police arrested 11 foreign nationals on January 26. These individuals were involved in a violent altercation that employed dangerous objects, resulting in injuries and posing a threat to public order and safety.
The Ministry stated, "Following a joint assessment by the competent authorities, it was deemed that the stay of these individuals in the Republic did not serve the public interest, as they were assessed as dangerous for public order and security." Consequently, legal procedures were swiftly enacted, leading to the deportation of these individuals and their inclusion on the stop list.
The Ministry further clarified that among the 11 arrested, one individual is a European citizen and hence not subject to deportation under European and national laws. Additionally, another individual, an Indian citizen, was not deported at this time due to ongoing separate criminal proceedings related to a sham marriage case, which is being investigated in collaboration with Interpol.
