Brussels: The first Council of EU Finance Ministers under the Cyprus EU Presidency was chaired by Finance Minister Makis Keravnos in Brussels on Tuesday. Keravnos informed the press on Thursday that the Council addressed various issues, including the challenges faced by the EU economy.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Keravnos, in statements following a Cabinet meeting in Nicosia, highlighted the discussions on the course of the European economy, its challenges, and the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. He emphasized that this important scheme, which focuses on development spending, is set to conclude by mid-2026 under the Cyprus Presidency.
Keravnos also noted that the EU Ministers engaged in discussions about Ukraine financing, specifically related to the needs arising from Russia's invasion. Additionally, the Council held an initial discussion on international developments, particularly concerning Greenland.
