Nicosia: Unemployment rate in Cyprus stood at 4.3% in March 2026, remaining significantly below the euro area average, according to data released by Eurostat on Thursday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, at the euro area level, unemployment declined to 6.2% from 6.3% in February, while in the European Union it stood at 6.0%, remaining stable on a monthly basis.
The picture in Cyprus points to a comparatively stronger labour market performance, with unemployment staying below the European average and showing only slight fluctuations in recent months, having been measured at 4.2% in February.
Compared with other member states, Cyprus records lower unemployment levels than countries such as Greece at 9.0%, Spain at 10.3%, and Finland at 10.4%, which are among those with the highest rates in the EU.
Overall, the number of unemployed persons in the European Union is estimated at 13.226 million, of whom 10.984 million are in the euro area. Compared with February, unemployment decreased by 63,000 persons in the euro area.
As for young people under 25, the unemployment rate in the euro area stood at 14.9%, remaining stable, while in the EU it increased slightly to 15.4%.
