Cyprus Makes Its Debut in European Money Quiz in Brussels

Nicosia: Cyprus participated for the first time in the European Money Quiz, the biggest financial literacy competition for students aged 13 to 15 in Europe, organized by the European Banking Federation (EBF). Representing Cyprus were students from Vergina Gymnasium in Larnaca.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the final round of the 9th edition of the competition took place in Brussels, where national winners from 30 countries competed for the title of European Champion in financial education. Italy took the first place, followed by North Macedonia in second place and Sweden in third.

The quiz challenged students with questions on key financial topics, including long-term financial planning, savings strategies, understanding cryptocurrencies, cybersecurity, and responsible credit use.

This year’s edition saw the participation of 73,054 students from 2,877 schools across Europe. A total of 60 finalists advanced to the European final in Brussels, accompanied by teachers and representatives from their national banking associations.

The 2025 edition of the quiz included students from Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine.
