Bad Weather from Greece Weakens as New System Approaches Cyprus from Italy

Nicosia: Bad weather originating from Greece that has impacted Cyprus is showing signs of weakening, although a new wave of inclement weather is anticipated from Italy on Friday. Meteorological Officer Andreas Hadjigeorgiou informed CNA that despite the current conditions, temperatures are expected to rise and approach or exceed the seasonal average by Sunday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Hadjigeorgiou stated that rain and adverse weather conditions are expected to persist into Thursday evening, with the possibility of a hailstorm along the coast. The initial low-pressure system from Greece is diminishing, indicating no severe weather threats. Strong coastal winds reaching 6 to 8 Beaufort will gradually decrease to around 5 Beaufort by later in the evening and are expected to remain below 5 Beaufort until Monday.

A new low-pressure system from northeastern Italy is projected to impact Cyprus from Friday evening, bringing rain and isolated storms until early Saturday afternoon. Frost may likely form in mountainous areas on Friday, with temperatures dropping one to two degrees below the seasonal average.

The weather is expected to remain cloudy on Sunday and Monday, but temperatures will rise, aligning more closely with typical seasonal conditions.
