Nicosia: Archbishop George of the Church of Cyprus exercised his right to vote in the parliamentary elections on Sunday, underscoring the sacred and significant responsibility of this democratic act.
According to Cyprus News Agency, after casting his vote, Archbishop George delivered remarks in Nicosia, highlighting the critical context in which these elections are taking place. He noted, "We are a country under occupation, a country in which our national presence in our own land is at stake, and for this reason, we must very wisely elect the best who will cooperate with each other and with the executive power to solve the main problems of the country, the most important of which is our national problem."
The Archbishop concluded his statements with a call for unity and pragmatic cooperation. He stated that such collaboration should exist "away from populism" to ensure progress. He emphasized that resolving the Cyprus issue would pave the way for addressing other matters, allowing for discussions on smaller issues once the primary national concern is addressed.
