US Ambassador Highlights Strengthened US-Cyprus Relations in Farewell Meeting

Nicosia: The US Ambassador, Julie S. Davis, praised the growth of her country’s partnership with Cyprus in a farewell meeting on Monday with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, ahead of the end of her term in Cyprus. The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Davis, who is also the Ambassador in Ukraine, informed President Christodoulides that she would travel to Ukraine, where she will remain until the end of June. After the meeting, Davis expressed her gratitude toward President Christodoulides, highlighting the significant growth in the relationship between the United States and Cyprus over the years.

Davis emphasized the collaborative achievements made during her tenure, noting that it has been a productive period for both nations. She expressed optimism for the future of US-Cyprus relations, stating that the progress made is the result of joint efforts by teams on both sides rather than individual contributions.

She acknowledged the crucial role of diplomats at the American Embassy, as well as the leadership in both Washington and Cyprus, in strengthening bilateral ties. Davis highlighted the importance of cooperation in security affairs, which has been vital given recent global events.

Additionally, Davis spoke about the importance of fostering mutual understanding between Americans and Cypriots and the successes achieved in bringing the business communities of both nations together. She expressed pride in American businesses finding opportunities in Cyprus and Cypriot companies expanding into the United States.

Regarding her successor, John Breslow, Davis expressed confidence in his capabilities and mentioned that he is awaiting confirmation from the United States Senate. She assured that Breslow would be a valuable partner for Cyprus, continuing the strengthened ties between the two countries.
