The Department of Meteorology issued a “yellow warning” for extreme high temperatures, valid from 12:30 until 16:00 (local time) for Saturday, while the danger for forests fires remains on “red alert”.
The maximum temperature inland is expected to rise to around 41 degrees Celsius inland and 33 on the highest peaks, the warning said, the Cypriot Meteo said.
Furthermore, Cyprus` Forests Department announced that a “red alert” warning for risk of fire will continue to be in effect on Saturday, urging the public to refrain from activities that may cause a fire and to cooperate with the authorities.
