Cyprus and Russia hold 5th meeting of Intergovernmental Committee on Military and Technical Cooperation

The 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Military and Technical Cooperation between Cyprus and Russia took place on the 24 and 25 of August in Moscow, in the framework of the International Military Forum `Army 2021`.

Cyprus was represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Andreas Louka and Deputy Chief of the National Guard General Staff, Lieutenant General Costas Chrysiliou accompanied by officers of the Ministry and the General Staff.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Defence, Louka also met with Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Colonel General Alexander Fomin. The agenda included bilateral cooperation in the military sector and current regional security issues.

During the Intergovernmental Committee`s meeting, the Cyprus and Russia officials discussed issues related to military and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Russian Federation and a protocol of cooperation was signed.

Louka also signed the extension of the technical and supply support of the National Guard`s weapons systems which are of Russian origin.
