Surplus of 653.6 Million Euro for General Government in 3Q 2025

Nicosia: The General Government fiscal results for the third quarter of 2025 indicate a surplus of 653.6 million euros.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the preliminary fiscal results, prepared by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT), reveal a surplus of 653.6 million euros for the period of July-September 2025. This marks a decrease compared to the surplus of 871 million euros recorded during the same period in 2024.

During the third quarter of 2025, total revenue increased by 104.2 million euros, amounting to 4,099 million euros compared to 3,994.8 million euros in the corresponding period of the previous year. Social contributions saw an increase of 62.5 million euros, reaching 1,151.2 million euros, while revenue from taxes on income and wealth rose by 10.9 million euros to 1,299.3 million euros. Revenue from taxes on production and imports also saw an increase, with net VAT revenue rising by 40.2 million euros to 886.4 million euros.

Property income receivable increased by 3 million euros, reaching 25.3 million euros, while capital transfers increased by 6 million euros to 10.8 million euros. Revenue from the sale of goods and services rose by 15.1 million euros, totaling 260.9 million euros. Conversely, other current transfers decreased slightly by 0.4 million euros to 87.2 million euros.

On the expenditure side, total spending increased by 321.5 million euros to 3,445.3 million euros, up from 3,123.8 million euros in the same period of 2024. Social transfers rose by 97.8 million euros, and compensation of employees increased by 50.5 million euros. Intermediate consumption also saw a slight increase of 4.5 million euros. The capital account experienced significant growth, increasing by 223.7 million euros.

In contrast, property income payable decreased by 26.1 million euros, and other current expenditure saw a reduction of 16.1 million euros. Subsidies decreased by 12.6 million euros compared to the third quarter of the previous year.
