Nicosia: The statistical data on tourist arrivals published on Tuesday confirm the resilience of the Cypriot tourism, Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis has said. This is confirmed, he noted in a written statement, by only a 1.1% drop compared to July of the previous year, as well as the overall decrease for the period January - July, which is now for the first time below 10% (the decrease for the period January - July was 8%).
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Deputy Minister said that Cyprus tourism is even recording an increase in tourist arrivals compared to the corresponding period (period January - July) of the years 2024 and 2023, of 1.6% and 4.7% respectively, while compared to 2022, an increase of 33.6% is recorded.
Koumis noted that the government, and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, are monitoring the progress of each geographical market separately, focusing mainly on the coming years, and taking into account the influence on each market separately from international geopolitical developments.
"We continue to focus on the rest of the year, but also on the coming years, aiming for the sustainable development of our country's tourism," he concluded.
