Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi have agreed to maintain close coordination following a telephone conversation on Friday regarding the latest developments in the Middle East. In a post on 'X' platform from Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the two leaders discussed the recent developments in the region and particularly the critical need of avoiding further escalation and concluding the ceasefire and hostages and detainees release deal. 'President Christodoulides reiterated his deep concern regarding the dire situation in Gaza, deplored the loss of civilian life and underscored President El Sisi's tireless mediating role for an urgently needed ceasefire deal', he wrote. He furthermore noted that President Christodoulides underscored Cyprus' readiness in implementing its reliable role as a humanitarian hub in times of need, always in line with the policy principle of being part of the solution and aiming at fostering conditions of peace and stab ility.
