President Christodoulides Highlights Key Health Sector Reforms

Nicosia: President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides referred Friday to three important reforms in the Health sector, noting that the responsible economic policy allows us to modernize the state through bold reforms. The three reforms in the Health sector are the National Cancer Institute, the National Ambulance Service, and Community Nursing and Midwifery.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President emphasized in a post on 'X' that the driving force and basic prerequisite for implementing their policies is a strong and resilient economy. He expressed satisfaction that their responsible economic policy enables investments in Health, Education, Housing, and Social Policy, thereby modernizing the state through continuous and bold reforms.

The President detailed that these three crucial reforms in the Health sector have progressed, strengthening the health services provided. Regarding the National Cancer Institute, he highlighted that its establishment was one of his pre-election campaign promises and a long-standing request of stakeholders, aiming to coordinate prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer with a strong focus on research.

Addressing the National Ambulance Agency, the President noted that it establishes essential national infrastructure to enhance coordination, transparency, and quality of emergency pre-hospital care, creating a modern and integrated ambulance system.

As for Community Nursing and Midwifery, the President described it as an "emblematic action" that improves women's direct access to care services, ensuring continuous monitoring and support during pregnancy and motherhood. With policies that make a difference and improve the everyday life of citizens, Cyprus is changing, he concluded.
