Jerusalem: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is set to participate in the 10th Cyprus-Greece-Israel Trilateral Summit held in Jerusalem. Prior to the Summit, he will engage in meetings with Israel's President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Additionally, there will be separate bilateral meetings between the Foreign Affairs and Energy Ministers of Cyprus and Israel, preceding the main Summit engagements. According to Cyprus News Agency, the goal of the Trilateral Summit is to foster conditions of security and cooperation in the broader Middle East region. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of this visit, highlighting discussions on bilateral relations, particularly in the domains of energy, defense, innovation, and tourism with the Israeli leadership. The Summit will also explore the potential for strengthening the 3+1 cooperation format, involving the United States, as part of a broader strategy for regional integration. This initiative aims to boost the role of the Eastern Mediterranean as a strategic, energy, and economic hub. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that discussions will focus significantly on the energy sector and interconnected infrastructure, aiming to drive political support for existing and new energy projects. This comes in the wake of the recent Agreement on the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) between Cyprus and Lebanon, which has created a positive momentum for such initiatives. The 10th Trilateral Summit marks a continuation of efforts from the previous Summit held in Nicosia on September 4, 2023, just before the events of October 7, 2023.
