Glyfada: The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, announced a potential new beginning for resolving the long-standing Cyprus problem during an award ceremony for his contributions to Pontian Hellenism. The event, which took place in Glyfada, marked a significant moment as Christodoulides shared his optimism about breaking the years of stagnation and deadlock surrounding the issue.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Christodoulides emphasized the emergence of a new perspective, despite the challenges posed by the Turkish side. He reiterated that Nicosia, in close consultation with the Greek government, is committed to exploring every avenue to achieve a solution based on the framework, principles, and values of the European Union.
While accepting the honorary title for his contributions to Pontian Hellenism, the President expressed that the accolade was a tribute to the Greeks of Cyprus. He remarked that the honor extended to all Greek Cypriots who share a deep connection and emotional resonance with the history and culture of Pontian Hellenism. He highlighted the shared experiences and common struggles of Cyprus and Pontus, underscoring their historical, cultural, and faith-based bonds as well as their shared experiences of Turkish aggression.
