President Christodoulides Advances Cyprus-Bahrain Relations During Official Visit

Manama: President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, continues on Monday his official visit to Bahrain. According to Cyprus News Agency, today he will address the business forum organized by the Cyprus and Bahrain Chambers of Commerce, and inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Manama. Meanwhile, in a meeting on Sunday with the King of Bahrain at the Royal Palace in Manama, and during the expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries, President Christodoulides emphasized that his visit is both symbolic and substantial. He described it as 'a clear reflection of our shared determination to further strengthen the Cyprus-Bahrain relationship at all levels - political, strategic, and economic.' King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa of Bahrain, whose country is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, welcomed President Christodoulides and highlighted the long-standing and excellent relations between the two nations. These relations, he noted, are grounded in mutual unde rstanding, respect, shared values, and constructive cooperation. During the visit, several agreements were signed, including one on the mutual recognition of higher education qualifications. Memoranda of understanding were also established in areas such as military cooperation, diplomacy, education in search and rescue, culture, antiquities and handicrafts, and tourism. Additionally, an agreement on cooperation between the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce was formalized. Later, President Christodoulides, accompanied by the Cyprus delegation, visited the Investment Fund's building, where he was received by the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain. He met with executives and members of the Fund, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance of Bahrain. The President is joined on this visit by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy, the Government Spokesman, the Deputy Minister to the President, the National Security Advisor, and th e Director of his Diplomatic Office.
