Petroleum Product Sales Rise by 4.8% in 2025, Statistical Service Reports

Nicosia: The total sales of petroleum products in 2025 saw an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous year, 2024, as reported by the Statistical Service on Tuesday. This growth indicates a significant shift in the consumption patterns of various petroleum products over the year.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the provisions of marine gasoil and aviation kerosene experienced substantial rises of 90.3% and 13% respectively. Other petroleum products such as asphalt, kerosene, heating gasoil, liquefied petroleum gases, motor gasoline, and road diesel also saw increments in sales by percentages of 15.6%, 6.1%, 5.8%, 3.7%, 3.5%, and 2.7% respectively. However, the sales of light and heavy fuel oil declined by 52.9% and 12% respectively.

Sales from filling stations in 2025 also noted an increase of 3% compared to 2024. In December 2025 alone, the total sales of petroleum products reached 123,274 tonnes, marking an increase of 4.9% compared to December of the previous year. This rise was notably influenced by the provisions of marine gasoil, which surged by 76.3%, and aviation kerosene, which went up by 23.6%. Other products, including asphalt, heating gasoil, motor gasoline, and road diesel, also saw increased sales ranging from 6.1% to 51.4%.

Conversely, the sales of light and heavy fuel oil declined sharply in December, by 82.8% and 34.9% respectively, along with a slight decrease in liquefied petroleum gases by 0.6%. Filling stations, however, recorded a 5.7% rise, reaching 64,311 tonnes.

Comparing December 2025 to November 2025, there was an overall increase in petroleum product sales by 2.8%. Notably, motor gasoline and road diesel sales rose by 9.7% and 2.1% respectively, though there was a decline in aviation kerosene and marine gasoil provisions by 18.3% and 9.6%.

Finally, the total stocks of petroleum products at the end of December 2025 fell by 7.6% compared to the end of the previous month, indicating a significant drawdown in inventory levels.
