Nicosia: The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled ‘Elements and Health Impact of the Mediterranean Diet’ was successfully completed under the coordination of the Postgraduate Programme in ‘Healthcare Management’ at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC), with collaboration from the University’s Mobility Office. The programme included 18 students and six faculty members from six universities abroad, with Associate Professor Elpidoforos Soteriades serving as the Scientific Coordinator on behalf of OUC.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the programme involved professors, technocrats, and scientists from Cyprus who delivered lectures, conducted workshops, and led group activities using interactive distance learning methods developed by OUC. The main aim was to enhance knowledge and skills related to the Mediterranean Diet’s benefits on human health. Topics covered included motivating dietary behavior change, designing and implementing epidemiological studies on the Mediterranean Diet, and exploring its physical and mental health benefits.
Apart from OUC, the programme’s implementation consortium included the University of the Aegean, International Hellenic University, Charles University, University of Calabria, University of Crete, and United Arab Emirates University. The programme received support from various sponsors and partners, including ‘Oenou Yi’ Winery, the Holy Metropolis of Kition, the Municipality of Larnaca, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and the Anogyra Community Council.
