Nicosia: The Nicosia General Hospital is slated for a significant transformation into a state-of-the-art facility, with similar upgrades planned for other hospitals, according to President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The announcement was made following the President’s visit to the fast-track clinic of the Accident and Emergency Department at the Nicosia General Hospital.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the President also revealed plans to launch a fast-track center at the Paphos General Hospital on June 2, with further expansions anticipated. During his visit, the President expressed satisfaction with both the services observed and the feedback received from patients regarding the efficiency and professionalism at the hospital.
Addressing prior concerns, the President acknowledged previous issues at the Accident and Emergency Department and emphasized that the government has been proactive in addressing these challenges with a comprehensive plan. He visited the hospital to assess the implementation of this plan and was pleased with the progress noted.
The Nicosia General Hospital is undergoing evaluation by an organization with high standards, and initial assessments indicate only minimal deviations from international benchmarks. The President assured that the hospital would soon become a state-of-the-art facility, setting a precedent for other hospitals in Cyprus.
Investment in the health and education sectors remains a government priority, and the President highlighted a 126 million euro investment aimed at upgrading hospitals, particularly the Accident and Emergency Departments. This initiative includes the introduction of fast-track centers to alleviate pressure on emergency services, allowing them to focus on more severe cases.
President Christodoulides expressed satisfaction with efforts to enhance hospital services and noted the advanced technology available in public hospitals. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting and improving hospital facilities across the nation.
