Brussels: A humanitarian aid delivery has been scheduled for December 20 within the framework of the 'Amalthea' humanitarian corridor, President Nikos Christodoulides said Friday. Speaking in Brussels, after the all-night session of the European Council, the President of the Republic referred to the Conclusions on the Middle East, underlining the importance of the specific reference to the Cyprus Maritime Corridor. Given the opportunity, he said he informed his counterparts of the new delivery.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the delivery involves 950 tons of humanitarian aid in 44 containers originating from the Republic of Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, France, Slovakia, and Kuwait. President Christodoulides emphasized the collaborative effort among these nations to provide essential support within the 'Amalthea' framework.
Additionally, President Christodoulides discussed a letter from the President of the European Commission concerning migration. He noted two references to Cyprus: firstly, the positive outlook for the Republic of Cyprus regarding its progress toward full Schengen accession, and secondly, Cyprus, alongside Austria and Germany, being highlighted as the countries with the most returns among all EU member states, specifically 'the most returns of migrants to Syria.'
