Nicosia: Meat production increased in November 2025 compared with the corresponding month of 2024, with positive changes recorded in most major categories, according to the monthly data of the Statistical Service.
According to Cyprus News Agency, pork production saw an annual increase of 12.4% in the number of animals and 12.3% in total weight. Goats also experienced a rise, with numbers up by 29.9% and animal weight by 25.6%.
Sheep production experienced a boost, with a 31% increase in the number of animals and a 17.8% rise in weight. Lamb production saw even greater growth, with numbers increasing by 33.9% and weight by 22.6%.
Chickens, which are the largest category of domestic production, recorded an increase of 7.9% in both numbers and total weight.
In contrast, cattle production saw a decrease of 12.2% in the number of animals and an 18.1% drop in weight on an annual basis, mainly in adult animals. However, calves aged 8 months or less showed a significant increase of 51.4% in numbers and 60% in weight, while young cattle aged 8-12 months also recorded increases of 41.5% in numbers and 40.7% in weight.
Compared with October 2025, total meat production showed a marginal decline of 2%, with decreases in all categories except for chickens, which recorded a 3% increase.
