Limassol: The first compensation plans for those impacted by the recent fires in the Limassol district are scheduled to be presented for approval at the upcoming Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Information obtained by the Cyprus News Agency indicates that the primary objective is to expedite the distribution of compensation to those affected.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the process of assessing damage continued over the weekend, involving the Ministries of Interior and Agriculture. The Ministry of Interior has deployed 18 crews to the affected areas to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. Concurrently, the Department of Agriculture has been accepting applications from farmers who have not registered with the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (CAPO) since yesterday.
The Veterinary Services are actively documenting the damage to livestock facilities and animals that have suffered in the fires. This registration process is set to continue until Tuesday. Farmers who are not registered with CAPO can sub
mit their applications at various community councils across Agios Amvrosios, Agios Georgios Silikou, Alassa, Vouni, Omodos, and Pachna, as well as at the KEO company offices in the Malia community.
A knowledgeable source revealed that the distribution of animal feed commenced today, prioritizing units entirely depleted of feed. Furthermore, the Cyprus News Agency reports that the tender for the early warning system (EWS) is projected to be awarded by early August.
