Cyprus Meteorology Department Issues Sea Forecast for Coastal Areas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released a detailed sea forecast covering the coastal areas of Cyprus for the period from noon on January 5, 2026, until noon on January 6, 2026. The forecast, which extends to 8 kilometers seawards, is based on the Beaufort scale for wind measurement and indicates mainly fine weather conditions with increased high cloud coverage.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the current atmospheric pressure is noted at 1024 hPa, and the sea surface temperature stands at 19°C. The forecast issues no warnings, suggesting stable conditions for seafaring activities. Visibility is expected to remain good throughout the forecast period.

For the West Coast, winds in the afternoon will range from East to Southeast at levels 3 to 4, slightly increasing to 4 to 5 in local areas, with the sea state being slight. Overnight, the winds will shift to Northeast to East at level 3, occasionally reaching levels 3 to 4 locally, while maintaining a slight sea state.

On the South Coast, afternoon winds are predicted to be Northeast to East at levels 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea state varying from slight to moderate. During the night, winds will transition to North to Northeast at levels 3 to 4, with offshore winds maintaining a slight to moderate sea state.

The East Coast will experience afternoon winds from Northeast to East at levels 4 to 5, with some areas reaching level 5, resulting in a moderate sea state. At night, winds will decrease to North to Northeast at levels 3 to 4, locally reaching level 4, with a slight to moderate sea state expected to continue.

For the North Coast, the forecast indicates afternoon winds from Northeast to East at levels 4, locally increasing to 4 to 5, with a slight to moderate sea state. Overnight, winds will remain Northeast to East at levels 3 to 4, with offshore areas experiencing slightly stronger winds at level 4, maintaining a slight to moderate sea state.
