Jerusalem: On Monday, the leaders of Cyprus, Greece, and Israel expressed their determination to continue and deepen cooperation despite geopolitical challenges, following the Trilateral Summit between the three countries, which took place in Jerusalem. They also expressed their determination to promote the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project, linking it to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
According to Cyprus News Agency, President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized the substantive nature of the partnership, noting its strategic importance for the region and beyond. He highlighted the commitment to work in a spirit of trust and cooperation for stability, security, and prosperity in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on the historical pride of Israel, Greece, and Cyprus, three ancient countries with ancient peoples. He conveyed a message to those who might aim to reestablish empires in their lands, urging them to abandon such thoughts. Netanyahu highlighted the collaboration of the three democracies in the Eastern Mediterranean to foster a brighter future, prosperity, and peace through strength.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis described the partnership as one that has stood the test of time, remaining resilient and adaptable. He stressed its significant contribution to stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean, viewing the geopolitical challenges as opportunities to shape a regional security architecture capable of delivering peace and prosperity.
