Cyprus Foreign Minister Embarks on Diplomatic Tour of Central Asia

Nicosia: Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, travels on Thursday to the Republic of Tajikistan from the Republic of Kazakhstan, following the conclusion of the official visit of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, to the country. The contacts in Central Asia are being held with the aim of promoting and further upgrading Cyprus's relations with the countries of the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the first stop of the tour, on Thursday, is the Republic of Tajikistan, where Kombos is making the first visit by a Cypriot Foreign Minister to the country. At the center of his meetings will be the review and further strengthening of bilateral relations, as well as matters pertaining to the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On June 6, the Foreign Minister will travel to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The purpose of the visit is to maintain the positive momentum in bilateral relations, strengthen political consultations, and explore prospects for further cooperation between the two countries.

In the Kyrgyz Republic, which the Foreign Minister will visit on June 8, the focus will be on the further development of Cyprus-Kyrgyz bilateral relations, increasing the frequency of contacts between the two countries at political and diplomatic levels, and coordination following the country's recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.
