Ankara: Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, will visit Ankara on 6 and 7 February to engage in discussions on EU-Trkiye cooperation, focusing on regional stability, connectivity, trade, and investment in a changing geopolitical environment.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Commissioner Kos is scheduled to meet with several key Turkish officials, including Vice-President Cevdet Yilmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, and Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek.
The meetings will address regional issues, economic and trade collaboration, the EU-Trkiye Customs Union, and refugee support. Additionally, the Commissioner will discuss the regional Connectivity Agenda, which aims to connect the Black Sea region, South Caucasus, and Central Asia. A significant event during the visit will be the signing ceremony of a £200 million European Investment Bank loan for small and medium-sized enterprises in Trkiye, aimed at supporting the green transition.
Commissioner Kos is also set to visit the Grand National Assembly to meet members of the EU-Trkiye Joint Parliamentary Committee and the EU Harmonisation Committee. The visit will conclude with a roundtable discussion with Turkish business leaders, centering on trade relations and connectivity.
