Hanoi: Comprehensive solutions are being implemented across N?ng to support the development of infrastructure, local production, and livelihoods as part of an effort to sustainably reduce multidimensional poverty.
According to Cyprus News Agency, ´ng Giang Commune People's Committee Chairman ? H?u T¹ng stated that sustainable livelihoods and substantive poverty reduction efforts are being achieved through integrated solutions tailored to local conditions, supported by the national target programme. A task force in the commune is identifying the underlying causes of persistent poverty, with a steering committee providing targeted assistance to each hamlet.
Results from a recent review indicate that most poor households lack production land, financial resources, and skills in farming and animal husbandry. Many families have numerous dependents, lack main income earners, or consist of single-person households. In response, the commune People's Committee collaborated with the Vi?t Nam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) and relevant agencies to design tailored support measures for each beneficiary group.
In 2025, the VBSP office in ´ng Giang Commune disbursed more than VN30 billion (US$1.1 million) in preferential loans to local residents for production and livelihood support, raising the total outstanding loans to nearly VN120 billion ($4.6 million). Households lacking production area were allocated land and supported with seedlings and livestock, while those in need of upskilling received hands-on technical guidance.
Over recent years, national programmes on sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic and mountainous areas have supported thousands of households with livestock, fruit trees, and high-value medicinal plants, along with technical assistance. This model supports sustainable livestock farming and the cultivation of plants suited to local conditions, helping ethnic households escape poverty each year.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Tr ?c Commune, Phan Duy Hung, highlighted the effective implementation of the national target programme, which has improved living standards for ethnic communities. By the end of 2025, 245 households in the commune had escaped poverty, despite severe flood damage. Agricultural planning has ensured crop yields and output, with funding integrated from multiple programmes to support large areas for medicinal plant cultivation.
The Qu?ng Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board received nearly VN974 billion ($37.1 million) in 2025 for essential infrastructure development. Tr?n Ng?c Son, deputy director of the board, acknowledged that while disbursement hasn't met expectations, these programmes have significantly improved local socio-economic conditions and reduced regional development gaps.
Reports from the N?ng Department of Agriculture and Environment show that in 2025, the city mobilised more than VN450 billion ($17.1 million) for poverty reduction programmes, including funds from the State budget, policy credit, private resources, and support from organisations, businesses, and individuals. The VBSP branch in N?ng disbursed over VN1.2 trillion ($45.7 million) in preferential loans to more than 4,500 households for production and business development.
From 2022 to 2025, nearly 5,000 households were lifted out of poverty under the national multidimensional poverty standards. In 2025, N?ng eliminated nearly 12,300 temporary and dilapidated houses with funding of nearly VN706 billion ($26.9 million). N?ng People's Committee Deputy Chairman Tr?n Anh Tu?n noted this as a significant milestone for the locality towards sustainable multidimensional poverty reduction.
